Titchfield Art & Craft Show 2026

Last weekend was the art show I've been preparing for, a last push in the week before and I managed to complete all my pieces on time.

The village of Titchfield settles itself next to the river Meon and close to the coast of the Solent. Rich in history, it dates back to the 6th century with plenty of historic buildings - half-timbered wonky shops, neat rows of cottages and even connections to Shakespeare.

I walked from home on a bright but chilly Friday morning, my precious cargo wrapped up safely.

It was not quite an hour's walk and as you near the village you head downhill with views over the often flooded fields that run adjacent to the river. Down the main street with it's quaint houses and shops and I reached my destination. It's always a strange feeling to hand over something you've created, unsure as to whether you will see it again and almost not wanting to let them go (as all pieces were for sale).

I challenged myself with new techniques and variety. These are the final pieces I exhibited:

For A Dreamer

(geliprint)

To my surprise I was awarded a Highly Commended for this piece in the newcomer category! One of my aunts took a liking to this piece and purchased it!

In The Margings Of Her Pages

(Linoprint)

A simple piece using a (slightly edited) poem someone once wrote me.

Aslan's Mountains

(abstarct pen, ink and watercolour)

Inspired by the Cloughmore Stone in the Mourne mountains, Northern Ireland - which in turn inspired CS Lewis with his stone table in the Narnia books.

Taormina

(pen and watercolour)

Inspired from a photo I took in the Sicilian town of Taormina. This piece and 'Venice' below were sold to the same buyer - I really hopes she enjoys them hanging on her wall.

Venice

(pen and watercolour)

Again, inspired by a photo I took during a trip to Venice, Italy.

Path Home

(hand embroidery)

This piece took forever! All hand embroidered and I would make changes now to help with depth.

A Little Bird Told Me

(linoprint)

A simple little miniature of a goldcrest.

I loved being part of the show and it is so well run, so thank you to all the volunteers who make it possible. One award and three pieces sold - I think I'll call that a success!

A lesson learnt in giving new things a try and see where it leads, go chase those interests and dreams and give them a go!

This months playlist is just some favourites from the band Banners, enjoy.
