A Fearless Future

I've never been one to worry about my future. I still don't. I'm an optimist, a dreamer, muddling my way through life with the knowledge that someone greater has me safe in their hands.
I can however play it too safe at times, comfortable in my own little bubble. So this year I am going to take more risks - which no doubt will bring with it failures as well as successes.
One of these risks was the decision to stop my yarn dyeing business. An enterprise that enabled me to work flexibly, at home so I could be there for my children, and I am very grateful for the provision it gave me. But the children are now teens, growing up fast, I need to explore new things and well go back to the old. As a teen I was forever drawing, gained an A* in my art gcse but, at the time, it was not a valid career path to follow. The arts were risky, unpredictable and not the sensible decision. So this year I am making time for art, wherever that may lead. I've even put myself into a local art exhibition in April so there's accountability.
It's funny how you come across people in your life, sometimes quite randomly, who make a big impact. They may be an old teacher, a family member or someone you only knew for a few weeks that passed through your life. I can think of a few and when someone sees your worth, understands you and encourages you it can help you make that bold, brave next step. So thank you to those special people for uplifting my heart and inspiring me. Maybe we all need to strive to be a positive impact in others lives.
My first artwork of the year was a pen and watercolour sketch of the Siegestor in Munich, Germany. It challenged me and there are aspects I'm proud of capturing and improvements I can make moving forward. Music accompanied my art so take a listen below to some of my favourites this month.
